Recent Approaches on Zika Virus: A Review

A B S T R A C T
Most of the diseases transmitted by the mosquito bite like west Nile, dengue, chicken gunya and yellow fever. These all are the vector-borne diseases transmitted by the arboviruses. Recently the virus which is causing a severe defects to people (especially fetus) was highlighted in Arica, Asia and 20 other countries etc., i.e. ZIKA virus (ZIKAV), which is mild febrile viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes (Ades species).The place where ZIKAV identified firstly (1947) in rhesus monkey in zika forest of Uganda. Isolation of ZIKAV from human was done at 1968 in residents of Nigeria. ZIKAV is flavivirus replicate initially in dendritic cells at the site of infection. it spread other areas of the body through bloodstream, lymphatic system. It is symptomatic in only about one out of every five cases. Neurological complications, Gillian barre syndrome, microcephaly are the severe defects associated with this zika fever. On 1st Feb. 2016 the world health organization declared a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) to prepare the vaccine for the ZIKAV. In India the vaccine was prepared by Barath Biotech international Ltd (hyd).
