Job description
The Groningen analysis Institute of Pharmacy (GRIP) of the college of arithmetic and Natural Sciences has one position for a postdoc in cell biology (or) pharmacology within the department pharmaceutical factor modulation. The project is funded by a ERC beginning investigator grant from the EU.
The genetic and molecular understanding of diseases has inflated dramatically by unraveling the whole human order. subsequent challenge is to use this data for the event of recent strategies for pharmacotherapy. The department pharmaceutical factor modulation aims at applying factortic and molecular data to develop new medical specialty against cancer or chronic inflammation victimisation gene medical aid or little drug-like molecules.
An important line of analysis in pharmaceutical factor modulation is dedicated to drug discovery associated with enzymes that regulate factor transcription. the target is to develop novel chemistry-based strategies for inhibition and detection of protein activity. Thus, we tend to aim to supply the fundamental data for drug discovery comes for inflammatory diseases.
The project involves the investigation of supermolecule essential amino acid acetylations in cell cultures victimisation standard organic chemistry techniques likewise as mass spectrum analysis. The studies are going to be performed in models systems that square measure relevant to inflammation. The aim is to spot and quantify supermolecule essential amino acid acetylations that square measure concerned in inflammatory responses via the NF-κB pathway.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
a masters’ degree in Pharmacy, Biochemistry or a related area
a PhD in cell biology or pharmacology
a profound knowledge of cell biology/pharmacology
knowledge of or willing to learn the analysis of protein modifications by mass spectrometry
good knowledge of written and spoken English
enthusiasm for pharmaceutical research in an interdisciplinary setting.
