Aim: Traditionally, Grewia nervosa is used for the treatment of rheumatism and tumour. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the immunomodulatory activity of the plant material. Method: The effect of the ethonol extract (EE) of Grewia nervosa on immunological function in rats was studied using Immunological Carban clearance test, Nutrophil adhesion and delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response models. The extract was administered orally at doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg. Results: The extract exhibited immunomodulatory activity by causing a significant decrease in charcoal clearance, delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response. Conclusion: Grewia nervosa showed increase in immunological parameters such as carbon clearance, neutrophil adhesion and DTH in rats.

Keywords: Grewia nervosa, immunomodulatory activity, Carban clearance, Nutrophil adhesion and Delayed-type hypersensitivity response.
