Obesity and associated metabolic complications
Applications are invited to join the dynamic, internationally recognised team led by Professor Toni Vidal-Puig.  We are looking to appoint two/three highly qualified and motivated post doctoral research associates for the team studying 1) mechanisms of adipose tissue expandability (supported by MRC), 2) mechanisms of adipose tissue macrophage polarisation (supported by BHF) and 3) central and peripheral mechanisms of brown fat activation and thermogenesis (supported by BBSRC and EC FP7 BetaBAT consortium).
You will hold a PhD in a relevant biological sciences discipline with experience in at least one of the three proposed research areas supported by a proven track record reflected in a strong record of publication. Ideally you will have a strong background in in vivo physiology and cellular and molecular biology. Experience in bioinformatics and lipid chemistry would be an advantage.
Candidates will require excellent communication and organisational skills as you will be expected to contribute to collaborative work with colleagues at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and to develop new external collaborations.
Proposed start date: 1st October 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Fixed-term: The funds for these posts are available for 24 months in the first instance.
