In the present work, floating microballoons of Orlistat using HPMC K4M, HPMC K15M, HPMC K100M along with sodium alginate as copolymers were formulated to deliver Orlistat via oral route. The results of this investigation indicate that, ionotropic gelation method can be successfully employed to formulate Orlistat microballoons. The in-vitro release studies demonstrated that microballoons of Orlistat prepared using HPMC K4M, HPMC K100M along with HPMC K15M in 1:1 ratio (formulation F5) shown maximum amount of drug release, hence it is considered as the optimized formulation. The in vitro release kinetics revealed that the optimized formulation (F5) release the drug in zero order manner based on the regression values of kinetic models.
