In this study anti-diarrhoeal effects of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Orophea uniflora belonging to family annoaceae were studied in. Preliminary phytochemical screening revealed the presence of various vital components. The ethanol & aqueous extracts of Orophea uniflora was found to be effective in a dose dependent manner against castor oil induced diarrhoea on experimental mice at the dose of 200 mg/kg and 400mg/kg body weight, The extract produced a significant decrease in the severity of diarrhoea in terms of reduction in the rate of defecation and consistency of faeces in albino mice. At the same dose, the extract showed significant antidiarrhoeal activity showing 82.28% &70.89 % (ethanol & aqueous) extracts reduction in diarrhoea comparable to that of the standard drug loperamide that showed 84.81% reduction in diarrhea.
