Cissus quadrangular is (Linn) has been used by common man in India for promotion of fracture healing and well known as “Hadjod”. It is also known as Vitis quadrangular is Wall. It is a common perennial climber, which is distributed throughout India particularly in tropical regions. The methanolic extract of Cissus quadrangularis (Linn) was evaluated for anti diabetic effect (Normoglycemic model) at a dose of 250 and 400 mg/kg showed as a significant reduction in blood glucose levels. Tolbutamide 200 mg/kg was used as a reference standard. The preliminary studies show that the methanolic extract of Cissus quadrangularis (Linn) has significant anti-diabetic activity need further investigations.
