The aim of the present study was to develop buccal formulation of Pindolol by using various natural polymers like Xanthan gum, Carrageenan gum and Locust Bean gum to maintain constant therapeutic levels of the drug for over 12 hrs. Polymers were used in the concentration of 15 mg, 30mg and 45 mg concentration. Pindolol quantity taken is 15 mg. Total weight of the tablet was considered as 100 mg. All the formulations (F1-F9) were passed various physicochemical evaluation parameters and they were found to be within limits. From the dissolution studies it was evident that the Formulation (F8) containing 30mg of locust bean gum and 15mg of pindolol showed better and desired drug release pattern i.e., 98.03 % in 12 hours. It followed zero order release kinetics mechanism.
