Introduction :
The word proactivity is now fairly common in management literature; it is a word won’t find in most dictionaries. It means more than merely taking initiative. It means that human beings are responsible for their own lives. They can subordinate feelings to values and have the initiative and the responsibility to make things happen. When we look at the word responsibility, “response-ability” is the ability to choose a response. Highly proactive people recognize that responsibility. They do not blame circumstances, conditions or conditioning for their behaviour. Their behaviour is a product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of their conditions. The ability to do what they just did is uniquely human. It is “self-awareness” or the ability to think about thought process. Self-awareness affects not only the attitudes and behaviours, but also how everyone see other people. It becomes the map of the basic nature of mankind. In fact, until everyone takes how they see themselves into account, they will be unable to understand how others see and feel about themselves and their world. This significantly limits their personal potential and their ability to relate to others as well.
Key Words :  reactive, control, human, proactive
DESCRIPTION:
COMPARISON BETWEEN PROACTIVE AND REACTIVE PEOPLE:
The comparison between proactive and reactive people is shown as follows. The proactive words are mentioned in brackets. Reactive (Proactive), Survive (Thrive), Follower (Leader), Urgent (Important), Travelling without a map (A clear direction), What next(What if), Limited choice (Endless possibilities), Rushed decisions (Rapid learning), Overwhelmed (Focussed action), Risk avoidance (Prudent risk-taking), Problem solving ( Raising the bar), To do lists (To don’t lists), Dealing with the past (Focussed on the future) and Them (Us) etc.,
DIRECT, INDIRECT AND NO CONTROL PROBLEMS:
The problems that everyone faces fall in one of three areas:
1. Direct control (problems involving one’s own behaviour)
2. Indirect control (problems involving other people’s behaviour)
3. No control (problems one can do nothing about, such as past or situational realities)
The significant problems everyone faces cannot be solved at the same level of thinking when they created them.
The proactive approach puts the first step in the solution of all three kinds of problems within present Circle of Influence.
INDEPENDENT WILL:
1. If one emotionally interdependent, they derive a great sense of worth within themselves, but they also recognize the need, for giving, and for receiving love from others
2. If one intellectually interdependent, they realize that they need the best thinking of other people to join with their own
Interdependence is a choice only independent people can make
3. Dependent people cannot choose to become interdependent. They don’t have the character to do it; they don’t own enough will on themselves
4. Proactivity is a part of human nature
5.  By respecting the proactive nature of other people, one should provide them with at least one clear, undistorted reflection from the social mirror.
6. The representation of effective proactive model is as follows
CIRCLE OF CONCERN AND CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE:
1 Proactive people focus their efforts in the Circle of Influence
2. The nature of their energy is positive, enlarging and magnifying, causing their Circle of Influence to increase
3. Reactive people focus their efforts in the Circle of Concern
4. They focus on the weakness of other people, the problems in the environment, and circumstances over which they have no control
5. Reactive people focus results in blaming and accusing attitudes, reactive language, and increased feelings of victimization
6. The negative energy generated by that focus, combined with neglect in areas they could do something about, causes their Circle of Influence to shrink
PROACTIVITY: THE 30-DAY TEST
1. For 30 days work only in the Circle of Influence
2. Make small commitments and keep them
3. Be a light, not a judge. Be a model, not a critic. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem
4. Look at the weaknesses of others with compassion, not accusation
5. It’s not what they’re not doing or should be doing that’s the issue
6. The issue is one’s own chosen response to the situation and what they should be doing
7. Try the 30-day test of proactivity. Be aware of the change in the Circle of Influence
CONCLUSION:
Proactive people aren’t pushy. They’re smart, they’re value driven, they read reality, and they know what’s needed. There are limits to the time for human to live, yet no limits on how human live his time.
